I want to have around 400 words in my article. I realize that this amount is a good target because it is not too short or too long. It is going to be a fashion review. I am going to start off with history and traditional styles. Then I am going to describe the clothes shown in the picture and how they fit with the trends that are happening right now. Then I am going to describe different trends of clothes and what designers are known for. This will be a guidebook on all basics of Pakistani fashion.
First draft:
In 1947, Pakistani became independent from India. Because of this, Pakistan wanted to create a new identity and they’d do this with clothes. They adopted many styles from India, the first being a saree- a crop top and skirt with an adorned piece of long cloth, also known as a dupatta. Throughout the years, Pakistani fashion has taken Western fashion and put a spin on it. When Western countries were going through a period of colors and tight-fitting clothes, Pakistan was a reflection of that. But, in the 80s, Pakistani fashion became more religious aligned. Longer sleeves, scarves, and long shirts were adopted. However, in the 90s, they put a spin to that. They started putting netting on the scarves and wearing them for fashion, making it a staple to the outfit. Fashion became more and more influential. It became the heart and sole of it. Pakistan continued to reflect Western fashion and made it their own with tight pants, loud colors, and different materials.
On these models, Sanya, Soha, and Sara Samla, you can see the range of different colors and styles. The bride, Sara (middle), wears a very traditional red outfit. It is a straight shirt that goes down to the mid thigh, big pants, and a dupatta lined with design and stitching on her head. Each sparkle, mirror work, and embroidery is done by hand, which takes at least two months. Soha (right) is wearing a beige plain outfit with a keyhole neckline and has a dark blue velvet shawl laid on top. This is the typical fashion for winter. Sanya (left) is wearing a lavender outfit with a V neckline with silver details. The dupatta has silver sparkles with ruffles on the ends. This fashion has been very trendy for the last year.
These outfits are examples of a range of designs found in Pakistan. The very traditional outfits that date back 70 years and longer from India, seasonal fashions, and trending right now. No outfit is complete without jewelry. All three girls have tikas which are on their foreheads. These are typically worn at weddings. Other accessories include necklaces, bracelets, and earrings. They are made in all different styles to match the variety of clothes.
These clothes are just a snippet of what you’d see in Pakistan and around the world. There are so many designers with different ideas and new trends every year. Everyone has different tastes and opinions, which makes Pakistani fashion all the more exciting.
